PREVENTATIVE DENTISTRY

Oral Hygiene

The reason for decay, gum disease and dental calculus is that food residue and bacterial plaque are not cleaned well. Teeth should be brushed at least twice a day, especially before going to bed. The brush is placed on the teeth and gums at a 45 degree angle. It is brushed for at least 2 minutes with small vibration and sweeping movements.

Fissure Sealant

The chewing surfaces of the teeth are indented. These pits and hillocks are called pits and fissures. These areas are very narrow and are usually the places where decays start due to the inability of food to be trapped and cleaned. A special fluid filling material is used in order to prevent food and microorganism accumulation in these areas and accordingly decay.

Fluorine Applications

Fluorine prevents mineral loss by strengthening tooth enamel. In addition, it provides the regeneration (remineralization) of the tooth enamel that has started caries formation. Fluorine also prevents the acid production of bacteria that cause tooth decay. When a balanced diet and good oral hygiene are combined with fluoride, the risk of tooth decay is further reduced.
